Mobile app for tax, excise payments in the offing

Speaking at a meeting of the Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI), he said that Sindh was the first province which digitalized its taxation and excise systems and for cess payments, there was no need to contact any one from the concerned departments, and all the collection system had been digitalized.

He said that for the collection of professional tax only the documents provided as per the company category would be enough for evaluation, and nobody could ask for any details regarding profit or any other thing.

He also said that a new law on narcotics control for the province was being drafted, which would also include the role of the health department for rehabilitation of the drug addicts. He said that a narcotics control force would be established on a provincial level in the coming months, and for the force 350 officials, including narcotics inspectors and other staff, would be recruited.

Replying to questions, Shoaib Siddiqui said that there was no need for providing details regarding profits and anything else, and only the document provided by companies as per their category would be enough for tax evaluations. Muhammad Shoaib Siddiqui clarified that no one would be permitted to harass the business community, and only the provided documents as per the company category would be enough to evaluate professional tax.

He said that to facilitate the members of KATI regarding professional and property taxation issue a senior officer will be designated as focal person. President KATI, Sheikh Umer Rehan mentioned that Government of Sindh collects 1.25 pc infrastructure cess from industry on import of goods and the amount reaches Rs70 billion annually.
