Engro Corporation shuts Karachi office after employee diagnosed with Coronavirus

Amid growing panic among the masses due to the Coronavirus outbreak, the Engro Corporation on Tuesday announced that it closing its Harbour Front office for three days after one of its employees contracted the dreaded virus.

“We were informed that an employee of Engro Corporation on 8th Floor of The Harbor Front (THF) Building, has tested positive for the COVID-19 Coronavirus,” read a statement from Engro Corporation.

The statement added that the organization had decided to shut its offices for three days “on medical advice from our doctor and in consultation with relevant experts.”

“Only as a precautionary measure, all Engro offices at The Harbour Front Building shall remain closed over the next three days. with business to resume on Monday. March 16, 2020,” read the statement.

Meanwhile, Karachi’s Dolmen Mall also located in Clifton’s Harbor Front issued a statement that it will remain open for business.

“There has been a reported case of COVID-19 at one of the office floors of a local company at The Harbour Front office building at Dolmen City and not the Dolmen Mall. The reported individual was traveling internationally and returned at the Harbour Front office premises for a few hours last Friday before being sent home by his company. Since that time the individual has not returned to the premises. He was eventually diagnosed for COVID-19 today (Tuesday)” read an official statement.

“We have been advised that this is an isolated incident and does not affect the mall or offices. Both, Dolmen Mall and offices will remain open and operating as per usual.”

The mall added that it has implemented extra precautions for COVID-19 for the past month including “sanitisation of all public areas multiple times a day and is following international best practises. We are in regular contact with local authorities, medical institutions and specialists for your safety and comfort.”

On Tuesday, Pakistan reported 12 new cases of the coronavirus taking the total number of cases to 19.
