Government urged to reduce power, gas tariffs for industrialisation

The Amun Taraqqi Party (ATP), Chairman Muhammad Faiq Shah while stressing for demonstrating 'predetermination' in wake of rapid declining and shrinking the world's economy, demanded of the government to reduce electricity and gas tariffs at optimal level to give boost to industrialization in the country.

Speaking a seminar on World Economy and Pakistan here, held under auspices of the ATP on Tuesday, Faiq Shah called upon the government to take proactive measures to reduce electricity and gas tariffs and industrialization across the country.

He opined the Pakistan can get long-lasting benefits due to downward trend in prices of petroleum commodities. However, he stressed the need of timely and policies on fast track basis in this regard.

Faiq Shah expressed pessimistic over the country's current economic outlook, while deploring high electricity, gas tariffs and not reduction in petroleum prices in the line with international market, insufficient steps to generate industrialization and generation of further employment opportunities in the country.

The Amun Taraqqi Party Chairman said the power and gas tariffs should be reduced at optimal level to give boost to industrialization in the country, which can also grow textile industry to some extent, resultantly generate more employment opportunities and pass on relief to poverty stricken masses as well.

Faiq Shah said the tendency to tender resignation by government economic team and reshuffle is relentless, which has adversely affecting economic affairs and impacting negatively on the country economy.
