The Government of Sindh suspended on Monday the licenses of 25 private education institutions in Karachi for not closing despite orders from the provincial government.

On Sunday, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah had announced that all educational institutions will remain closed till March 13 due to the coronavirus. He also warned that strict action would be taken against those institutions who fail to comply with the directives.

In a press release issued today, Director General Private Institutions Dr Mansoob Hussain Siddiqui said that an inspection was carried out in Landhi, Gulshan-e-Hadid, Korangi, Nazimabad and North Karachi. The press release further said that around 25 schools were found to be open.

The heads of these educational institutions have been summoned to the office of the director general for private institutions, local media reported.
