South Korean mills buy US wheat

The South Korean flour mills association KOFMIA bought around 85,000 tonnes of milling wheat to be sourced from the United States in a tender on Wednesday, European traders said.

A range of different wheat types were bought for the two Korean mills CJ Cheiljedang and Samyang, they said.

CJ Cheiljedang bought a total 50,000 tonnes for shipment between May 1-31.

CJ's purchase included 22,480 tonnes of soft white wheat of a maximum 10.5% protein bought at $226.15 a tonne FOB, 3,130 tonnes of soft white wheat of maximum 8.5% protein bought at $234.14 a tonne fob, 9,190 tonnes of hard red winter of a minimum 11.5% protein bought at $224.26 a tonne fob and 15,200 tonnes of northern spring wheat of 14% minimum protein bought at $246.11 a tonne fob.

Samyang's purchase included 10,300 tonnes of soft white wheat of a maximum 10.5% protein bought at $228.16 a tonne FOB, 1,200 tonnes of soft white wheat of maximum 8.5% protein bought at $234.78 a tonne fob, 11,200 tonnes of hard red winter of a minimum 11.5% protein bought at $229.17 a tonne fob and 12,300 tonnes of northern spring wheat of 14% minimum protein bought at $249.22 a tonne fob.
