FPCCI: A serious issue?

23 Feb, 2020

This is apropos a Business Recorder news item "Daroo serves legal notice on FPCCI internal auditor" carried by the newspaper yesterday; according to which, "The infighting between two groups of Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) has intensified after the debacle in the nomination of Pakistan's representative for the slot of President SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry surfaced. Insiders claim that when former President FPCCI, Daroo Khan served legal notice to incumbent President and Secretary General FPCCI for withdrawing his nomination as President SAARC CCI in "violation" of SCCI&I Charter, a campaign was launched against him."

Daroo Khan is said to have served another legal notice, now on Chief Internal Auditor FPCCI, Khalid Hanif for allegedly hurling accusations on him.

This is highly unfortunate situation. It seems that the elders of business community are not taking the issue with seriousness that it actually deserves. They need to intervene without any further loss of time. I closely follow the affairs of traders' community although I am a second generation woman entrepreneur. Unlike myself, however, my mother was a member of Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI). I earnestly urge for a dialogue between the concerned parties for an amicable resolution of the issue in the largest interest of business community in general and the prestige or image of country's premier body of businesspeople in particular.
