Carjacking cases on the rise in Capital

Auto-thieves and armed robbers struck at 13 separate locations in the federal capital and deprived citizens of their vehicles and valuables during last week. According to data gathered by Business Recorder, over eight cases of various carjacking, and five cases of car lifting were reported to separate police stations of the city.

The areas that were hit hard by criminal gangs fell in the limits of Khosar, Aabpara, Koral and Tarnol police stations. During last week, Kohsar Police Station registered two cases of vehicle theft. Auto thieves stole a bike bearing registration number ADM-033 belonging to Javed valued at Rs 40,000. Thieves also lifted another bike bearing registration number PL-157 belonging to Muhammad Akram from the limits of Kohsar Police Station.

In the same period, carjackers struck at two separate places in the limits of Aabpara Police Station. Auto theft stole a bike bearing registration number RIO-173 belonging to Saif Ullah valued at Rs 70,000 and lifted another bike bearing registration number IQ-3928 belonging to Atif Shehzad from Shakarparian Park.

Similarly, one case each of motor vehicle theft and murder was reported to Koral Police Station. Auto thieves stole a car bearing registration number IDM-1177 belonging to Rashid Habib valued at Rs 20,000.
