Dual nationality case: SHC issues notices to ECP, Vawda

Sindh High Court (SHC) Thursday issued notices to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), Faisal Vawda, Federal Minister Water Resources and others in a petition, seeking the disqualification of Vawda for concealing his "dual nationality."

A division bench of SHC directed to issue notices to ECP and Vawda to file their replies by March 2020 after hearing the petition of Qadir Khan Mandokhel Advocate, who contested the election against Mr. Vawda in the last general elections on July 25, 2018.

The petitioner alleged that Vawda concealed his dual nationality while filing the nomination papers to contest the general elections and quietly applied to surrender his nationality after the matter was taken to the court.

Petitioner submitted that evidences showed that federal minister was holding dual nationality at the time of general election and requested the court that Vawda should be disqualified Article 62-1(F) of constitution.
