  • The SC was hearing a case regarding the removal of encroachments in Karachi.

The Supreme Court (SC) ordered on Thursday the removal of Director General Sindh Building Control Authority Mushtaq Somroo.

Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Gulzar Ahmed who is in Karachi, took up several cases today. The bench headed by the CJP comprised Justice Faisal Arab and Justice Sajjad Ali Shah.

While hearing the case of restoration of the Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) system and encroachments in Karachi, the bench ordered the removal of Somroo and other high-level staff members of the authority. The bench directed that the Sindh chief minister Murad Ali Shah looks into the matter of appointing another, local media reported.

Earlier, the SC ordered the Sindh government and Karachi Mayor Wasim Akhtar to demolish all illegal buildings in the city within one week. He said that all illegal structures should be demolished and that he does not want to hear any more excuses.
