The Supreme Court (SC) barred on Monday the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) from investigating the Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project.

The hearing was taken up by a three-member bench of the SC headed by Justice Umar Ata Bandial. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government had filed a petition challenging a Peshawar High Court order directing the FIA to conduct an inquiry into the bus project.

During the hearing the court inquired the initial cost of the project and its initial date of completion. It also asked when the project will be completed, local media reported. The KP government's lawyer said it will now be completed in July.
