Mushahid proposes inclusion of Palestine issue to OIC moot on Kashmir

Chairman of Senate Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs Senator Mushahid Hussain has proposed the inclusion of Palestine issue to the OIC conference on Kashmir in April in Islamabad. Also, he said Prime Minister of Pakistan, Prime Minister of Malaysia and President of Turkey should write a strong-worded letter to President Trump and Security Council on Palestine issue.

He was speaking at a seminar on the title of "Changing scenario of the region and Pakistan" on Saturday.

Regarding Brexit, he said Pakistan has been deprived of voices favouring Kashmir cause in the European Parliament after the separation of the UK from the European Union. We would have to make fresh efforts to create favourable voices there now, he added.

He said Quaid-e-Azam was a great leader of 20th century. When one American female journalist asked about the vision of Pakistan and its future role, Quaid replied that Pakistan would be the centre of world politics. This interview was published in the Life Magazine on 5 January 1948, which means that Quaid was well aware of the role of Pakistan right after its creation, he added.

He said Pakistan has got strategic space on 2020 and circumstances have turned in its favour.

According to him, Narendra Modi invited trouble for him by changing the special status of Kashmir, followed by an amendment to the Citizen Act that has spread revolt all over India. Modi has become prey to his own tactics while Trump in facing impeachment therefore Pakistan has become a need of the US, which is wishing for peace in Afghanistan with the help of Pakistan. Trump wants to take the credit of it in his election campaign; he said and added that Pakistan would not face pressure from the US for the next one and half year.

He said CPEC has opened up new possibilities for Pakistan and it has become a hub of regional cooperation. He said Pakistan would be the centerpiece of the concept of Greater South Asia Geo Economic.

Referring to the statement of Modi of defeating Pakistan in seven to 10 days, followed by a statement of the US Foreign Secretary that China is a big threat of the time and terming Palestine development as a deal of the century by Trump, he said all these three statements have a deep link with Pakistan. He said Modi statement was relevant only if Pakistan had no nuclear capability. He paid tribute to Pakistani politics for making Pakistan a nuclear state while refusing to all types of pressure. Therefore, he said, there is not the threat of war between India and Pakistan.

He said locking down of Kashmir has rendered 450,000 Kashmiris jobless and the Kashmiri economic has suffered $20 billion loss over the last 181 days. There is no such example of a long lock down anywhere else in the world, he said and added that separatist movements are ripening up in India that has hit hard its economic development.

He said the US was involved in negative propaganda against CPEC with an intention of creating differences between China and Pakistan. The US is planning a new cold war in the region, as it does not want to vacate the region despite wishing for peace in Afghanistan.
