Gas shutdown in Punjab: Opposition protests against closure of power looms

Opposition in Punjab Assembly on Wednesday protested against the closure of power looms due to the gas shut down in Punjab.

Speaking on the floor of the House PML (N) MPA Sami Ullah Khan said that labourers are protesting in Faisalabad against closure of power looms due to the gas shut down.

Punjab Commerce and Industries Minister Mian Aslam Iqbal while responding to opposition criticism said that opposition should tell the House that how many industrial zones were established in Punjab during their tenure.

Independent MPA Jugnu Mohsin demanded a discussion on ease of doing business in the House. Industries Minister Aslam Iqbal accepted the demand of Jugnu Mohsin. Provincial Minister Cooperatives failed to satisfy the members on not a single issue.

Speaking on the point of order PML (N) MPA Sami ullah Khan called for establishing industrial zones in the Punjab. He said that House should be told that in the last eighteen months how many industrial units in the province were shut and what their worth in terms of dollar was. He also said that sale of tractors in the province decreased by forty percent in the province.

Industries Minister Mian Aslam Iqbal while responding to the point of order said that government had up till now established seven industrial zones in the province. He admitted that gas tariff was increased but he said that facts behind increase in gas tariff would not be accepted by opposition.

Punjab Law Ministers Raja Basharat said that government is constituting the board of directors of Punjab Provincial Cooperative Bank. He also said that previous government had not paid attention on the constitution of the board of directors of the bank.

Minister Cooperatives Mehar Aslam Bharvana said that summary of the names of the board of the directors of the bank has been sent to chief minister Punjab for approval. He said that board will be constituted till June.
