'Goods imported from China be checked for coronavirus'

The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) has said that the goods being imported from China should also be checked deeply as coronavirus can make its way through any sources.

LCCI President Irfan Iqbal Sheikh in a statement on Tuesday also urged the National Disaster Management Authority to get ready and keep a close eye on the situation. He stressed the need for taking all precautionary measures to avoid disaster-like situation in Pakistan due to corona virus. He said dozens of flight arrive from China every week and travelling of a large number of businessmen and students between the two countries can shift deadly corona virus to Pakistan, therefore the government should put in place necessary safety measures on war footage.

He said necessary safety protocols should also be applied against the China origin new strain of coronavirus which has set off global alarms. He feared that if precautionary measures are not adopted on time, then the spread of mysterious illness cannot be ruled out.

He said that the government should ensure that the special desks established at the airports are well-equipped passengers from China are being checked thoroughly.
