MNA, activists detained for protesting arrest of PTM leader

Police have detained MNA Mohsin Dawar from KP's tribal district on Tuesday for protesting the arrest of Pashtun Tahaffuz Movement (PTM) leader Manzoor Pashteen.

According to details, police have taken into custody Dawar and 14 PTM workers while protesting the arrest of Manzoor Pashteen in front of National Press Club. They have been detained under the Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance (MPO). Police have confirmed that the MNA and other workers have been shifted to Kohsar police station.

Police source said police had taken them into custody as they were chanting "anti-state" slogans. Politicians Afrasiab Khattak and Bushra Gohar also attended the protest.

Manzoor Pashteen was arrested in Peshawar on January 27 from Peshawar's Shaheen Town in the wee hours on the basis of an FIR registered against him on Jan 18 in DI Khan. According to police, Pashteen was wanted to DI Khan police on charges including sedition, hate speech, incitement against the state, and criminal conspiracy.

MNA Ali Wazir from KP's tribal district, who also attended the protest, in a video message to media said he was safe and sound, adding next line of action would be announced soon.
