China says Pakistan has made ‘all-out efforts’ to strengthen domestic CFT regime that should be recognize by the international community.

China’s Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Geng Shuang's at a presser appreciated the role of Financial Action Task Force (FATF) in countering money laundering and anti money laundering activities.

“Here is a principled response. The FATF is an important platform for international cooperation in countering money-laundering and terrorist financing. The purpose and goal of FATF is to help countries better fight illicit activities including money-laundering and terrorist financing and to prevent the international financial system from being abused,” he said.

The spokesperson added that the international community should recognized Pakistan’s resolve in curbing financial terrorism and money laundering.

“Pakistan has made all-out efforts to strengthen domestic CFT regime with visible progress. Its political will and active efforts should be recognized and encouraged by the international community. We hope FATF will offer Pakistan constructive support and assistance in its continued efforts to improve its counter-terrorism financing system and effectively fight terrorist financing,” said the spokesperson.

Earlier, the US Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs, Alice Wells appreciated Pakistan's ‘significant progress' made on the measures in compliance with FATF action plan in ‘quite a short period of time', said the Interior Ministry.
