The flour crisis is likely to hit Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, after the supply of flour from Punjab into the province remains at halt.

According to the flour dealers, the delivery of flour from Punjab has been completely stopped for the last five days and there is not even a sack of flour coming from Punjab that has lead to the isssue, whereas the deals are also facing problems due to the establishment of check posts.

Prices have been drastically increased and the price of 20kg bag is Rs 1200 while 85kg bag of Rs 5,200 is available.

The price of flour has reached 70 after an increase of Rs 6 in capital city of Punjab. The Flour Mills Association (FMA) jacked up the price of flour to Rs 70 per kg owing to increasing wheat prices.

The FMA announcing immediate increase in the flour prices said that as per the increase in the wheat prices the flour prices should be of Rs 72 but it has been set at 70.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar has directed the authorities concerned to initiate indiscriminate action against flour mills involved in the sale of allocated wheat in the open market. He said that no flour mills will be allowed to do so.

The price of flour has skyrocketed in recent days, in Sindh the prices of wheat were increased up to Rs300 per 100 kilograms bag and reached all time high at Rs5000 per 100 kilograms bag on Sunday.
