A resolution has been submitted in the Punjab Assembly on Friday, against the intensification of the flour crisis in the province.

As per details, the resolution was submitted by Pakistan Muslim League –Nawaz (PML-N) MPA Uzma Bukhari. The text of the resolution reads that the flour crisis in Punjab has intensified. It further reads that the government fixed the price of 20kg flour bag at Rs805, however, flour is being sold in the market for Rs840 to Rs850 per 20kg.

The resolution stated that the flour millers say the crisis was created after they did not receive wheat. The flour crisis is not being taken seriously by the government, read the resolution.

The resolution demanded to end this issue on immediate basis, adding that the government should ensure supply of wheat to flour mills. It added that the government should also ensure that the retailers are selling flour at government rates.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar has directed the authorities concerned to initiate indiscriminate action against flour mills involved in the sale of allocated wheat in the open market. He said that no flour mills will be allowed to do so.

The price of flour has skyrocketed in recent days, in Sindh the prices of wheat were increased up to Rs300 per 100 kilograms bag and reached all time high at Rs5000 per 100 kilograms bag on Sunday.
