  • It was decided that the governing body of KMDC being an independent body would make all financial and administrative policies for the college which would then get verified though the KMC Council.

KARACHI: Mayor Karachi Wasim Akhtar urged the governing body members of Karachi Medical & Dental College (KMDC) to work out measures for bringing improvement in the financial condition of the college.

He expressed these views while presiding over the governing body meeting at KMDC on Tuesday.

Deputy Mayor Syed Arshad Hasan and Metropolitan Commissioner Dr. Syed Saif-ur-Rehman also attended this meeting besides other members.

The governing body meeting which lasted for over four hours gave approval of the 15 point agenda after reviewing and discussion each point in detail.

It was decided that the governing body of KMDC being an independent body would make all financial and administrative policies for the college which would then get verified though the KMC Council.

The Mayor Karachi said that the members of governing body should submit their suggestions regarding improvement in the financial position.

He said that steps should be taken to establish a laboratory of the KMDC.

Principal of the college Prof. Dr Mehmood Haider said that the Alumni of the former students was already established with its first meeting held in the college.

These former students of KMDC who were serving in different countries could help the college.

He said that strict merit and admission policy of the college will not be changed.

It was informed on this occasion that the third phase of development plan was already underway which include the construction of third floor of the college building and two lecture halls.

A committee was also constituted for teaching hospital of KMDC to submit its report for upgradation of the hospitals.
