  • Punjab Chief Minister’s Focal Person on Digital Media Azhar Mashwani announced that an FIR has also been registered against the man.

The alleged main culprit behind last week's Nankana Sahib protest has been arrested and a case has also been lodged against him.

In a post on his official Twitter handle, Punjab Chief Minister’s Focal Person on Digital Media Azhar Mashwani announced the arrest of the culprit and wrote that an FIR has also been registered at the Nankana police station against him.

Last week, a confrontation between two groups threatened to blow into a big law and order issue. A team of Nankana Sahib police had to intervene to control the situation. A small crowd gathered to raise slogans. The protest was led by the family of a man, Ehsan, who was accused of forcibly converting a Sikh woman, Jagjit Kaur.

They claimed that police raided their house and mistreated them during the raid. The protest ended after local officials intervened and promised to investigate the raid.

Prime Minister Imran Khan also condemned the incident and said that the recent incident in Nankana Sahib goes against his 'vision and will find zero tolerance and protection from the government including police and judiciary'.
