The federal government could not achieve the target of disbursing development budget in the first six months of the financial year.

As per details, out of the allocated budget of Rs275 billion for different ministries, only Rs125bn were received. As per rules, 50pc of development funds were required to be issued during the first half. However, only 46pc of the funds were released to the ministries in the first half.

The planning commission could not even get 11pc of their allocated funds, whereas, several programs did not get any funds.

National Highways Authority and power projects received 48 percent of the allocated funds, whereas 50pc allocated funds for Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan were released.

No funds could be released in the first half for special federal development program for ‘temporarily displaced persons’ (TDP). The GIDC and the Clean Green Pakistan Movement were also deprived of funds.
