Option of legislation remains intact: Firdous

"[There are] flaws in the verdict, and legal and constitutional faults surfaced in the decision. With due respect to the judiciary, the government wants rectification of the faults and has thus decided to file a review petition. It being filed ultimately in the higher public interest," she added.

Awan said the option of legislation through the Parliament, after filing the review petition, will remain intact, adding that Law Minister Farogh Naseem will brief the media persons in detail about this.

The special assistant said that keeping in view the internal and external situation on borders, presence of COAS General Qamar Javed Bajwa is essential for the country and the nation.

While talking about former law minister of Punjab Rana Sanaullah's bail, she said only the bail has been granted and he is not acquitted of the drug case.

Rana Sanaullah, a leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, would have to face the case registered against him for possessing narcotics, she stated while speaking in a program of a private news channel. The powerful elements are coming into the ambit of law, she said, adding no one is above the law.

To a question, Dr Firdous stated that media trial of any institution should be avoided. About the release of top leaders of Pakistan Peoples Party and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, she said both the leaders of political parties have been granted bail on medical grounds.
