Aisha Farooqui named FO spokesperson

The government has appointed Aisha Farooqui as new spokesperson for the Foreign Office, as her predecessor Dr Mohammad Faisal will be the new ambassador to Germany. According to a notification dated December 17, 2019 issued, here on Thursday, Aisha Farooqui, Director General, has been transferred and posted as Director General/Spokesperson for the Foreign Office with immediate effect and until further orders.

She was serving as consul general in Houston and will replace the incumbent spokesperson Dr Mohammad Faisal, who has been posted as Pakistan's Ambassador to Germany.

Aisha Farooqui is a member of the Pakistan Foreign Service since 1994. She has served in several important capitals abroad in her long and diverse diplomatic career spanning more than two decades. She has also contributed towards policymaking at important political desks in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Islamabad.

She did Masters in International Relations from Quaid-e-Azam University Islamabad and obtained Bachelor of Arts from Karachi University, diploma in French Language, Culture and Civilization, Alliance Francaise, Paris, France. She is also author of "Musings of a Nomad: Essays on Life and Living".
