Zardari must be shifted to Karachi: Bilawal

10 Dec, 2019

Chairman Pakistan People's Party Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari has said that he hopes that former president and his father Asif Ali Zardari would get justice on December 11, the day the Islamabad High Court would take up Zardari's bail plea filed on medical grounds.

While talking to the media outside Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) on Monday, he hoped that both his father Zardari and his aunt Faryal Talpur will receive bail in the fake bank accounts case. He said that both the PPP leaders are facing jail due to the ongoing investigations into the fake accounts case. He said that his father should receive the facilities that every citizen is entitled to.

He said that Zardari's medical report will be presented to the court and his father will hopefully be shifted to a hospital in Karachi. He said that the former president told him that the medical board has conducted his checkup.

"Nawaz Sharif went abroad despite being sentenced, while Zardari is inside prison without being indicted," he said and added that there is a difference between the two cases.

"The selected government's tactics to pressurize us are continuing, but we will not relinquish our struggle against them," he said.

Bilawal said that this year on his mother Benazir Bhutto's death anniversary, a gathering would take place at Liaquat Bagh, where the 'selected government' will be called out.

Bilawal said that his party would continue its struggle to bring a true democratic government in the country. He said that Imran Khan was selected as the selection used to be in the past.

He said the required facilities must be provided to Asif Ali Zardari and he must be taken to Karachi.

He said that his father is seriously ill and his medical report would be submitted before the court. He went on to say that they would strengthen the state institutions and would empower Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

Asif Ali Zardari on December 3, 2019 has approached the High Court seeking bail on medical grounds. Zardari is currently under treatment at PIMS.
