Government doesn't want legislation on COAS within six months: Ahsan

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Ahsan Iqbal has accused the government of not being fair in matter of legislation regarding Army Chief's extension.

"Government is trying to induce rage in opposition so the legislation can't be done in 6-month period," said the PML-N leader while talking to media in Lahore.

"Supreme Court of Pakistan has given 6 month period for the legislation regarding extension in Army Chief's tenure." The PML-N leader said the legislation is possible only with the cooperation of the opposition.

"Imran Khan has already declared the opposition as non-patriotic and thief," added the PML-N leader.

"The federal ministers are on a role to malign the opposition which will only lead to divide in the nation," Ahsan Iqbal further added. He said he has heard Imran Khan's statement regarding economy. "Imran Khan should scold rather than praising his economic team for what they have done to Pakistan's economy," said the PML-N leader.

Iqbal further said, "Imran Khan should not hide behind army and Army Chief to hide his ineligibility as the institution of army is not only for PTI but the entire nation."

Former federal minister went on to say that no action was taken against hike in medicine prices in the country. He further urged the government not to hike power tariff as it will only lead to increase in power theft.
