Malaysian Deputy FM meets Qureshi

Malaysian Deputy Foreign Minister Datuk Wira Haji Marzuki bin Haji Yahya called on Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Friday and discussed bilateral relations and matters of mutual interests, Foreign Office said.

The foreign minister apprised the Malaysian deputy foreign minister of the blatant human rights violations in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. Qureshi appreciated the bold stance of Malaysia against Indian atrocities in Occupied Kashmir. He said, "We are thankful to Malaysia for fully supporting Pakistan's stance on Jammu and Kashmir dispute and raising voice for Kashmiri people."

The Malaysian deputy foreign minister apprised Shah Mehmood Qureshi about the upcoming Kuala Lumpur conference.

Foreign Minister Qureshi while describing the Kuala Lumpur conference as a right step ensured Pakistan's complete support.

Foreign Minister Qureshi also received Special Advisor to the World Food Program (WFP) Princess Sarah Zeid at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the day. Talking to the visiting Princess Sarah Zeid of Jordan, Foreign Minister Qureshi said that the present government is taking concrete steps to address the issue of malnutrition and to provide better maternal and child healthcare.

The foreign minister pointed out that Prime Minister Imran Khan in his first address to the nation had expressed the commitment to deal with the issue of stunted growth of children. He said that dealing with this challenge is on the priority of the current government. Qureshi also briefed Princess Sarah Zeid about the government's Ehsaas Programme which is aimed at empowering women and eradicating poverty.

The Jordanian princess appreciated the government's Ehsaas Programme for poverty alleviation as well as the steps being taken by the government to deal with the issue of stunted growth of children.
