PTI MPAs protest over PPP leaders' 'unparliamentary' words

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf members of the Punjab Assembly on Friday protested against use of unparliamentary words by PPP parliamentary leader Syed Hassan Murtaza.

During his speech on price control in the House, Hassan Murtaza said PTI government came into power as a result of 126 days of bhangra and mujra (dance) in Islamabad but the PTI government failed to give relief to the people who performed in dharna (protest).

After these remarks, the PTI women legislatures cordoned of the speaker's dais and starting protest against use of unparliamentary words by Hassan Murtaza.

Law Minister Raja Basharat threatened to boycott the session against the attitude of PPP leader. Murtaza said the leaders who were called thieves by the PTI provided cheap electricity to the people. He claimed this government failed to produce one unit of electricity. He said instead of giving relief to the people this government had increased the prices of gas, electricity and petroleum products.

He said in the past Asad Umar used to say that petrol should be available at Rs 40 per liter but now the petrol was available at Rs 115. Murtaza apologized on the request of Deputy Speaker Dost Mzari.

PTI MPA Fayyaz ul Hassan Chohan instead of expressing his own views on price control starting using unparliamentary language against the leadership of opposition parties.

He said a leader of one political party who calls himself "Khadim-e-Ala" performed bhangra. These were the people who were responsible of bringing the country under the debt of 96 billion dollars.

After listening such remarks against their leader ship the opposition started protest against Chohan. Hot words were exchange between PML-N MPA Jaffar Ali Hocha and Fayyaz Chohan.

Earlier, Speaker Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi formed a seven-member special committee to resolve the matter of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) members resigning from the standing committees of the Punjab Assembly

The seven-member parliamentary committee headed by Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi will examine the demands for the resignation of opposition members and to appoint Hamza Shahbaz as the Public Accounts Committee-1 (PAC) chairman.

According to details, the team will review the demands of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders for their return to standing committees.

The development came after Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaisar accepted the resignation of Opposition Leader in National Assembly (NA) Shahbaz Sharif from the post of chairman of PAC.

The PML-N president said his party had decided to appoint Rana Tanveer Hussain as PAC chairman and that he was bound to follow the decision.

Punjab Minister for Law Basharat Raja, Minister for Public Prosecution Chaudhry Zaheer-ud-Din and Provincial Transport Minister Jehanzeb Khan will represent the government while PML-N lawmaker Chaudhry Iqbal, senior MPA Samiullah Khan and Malik Nadeem Kamran are also included in the committee.

The Punjab Assembly Secretariat has also issued an official notification for the formation of the committee.
