Foreign investors exploring Pakistani markets: Alvi

President of Pakistan Dr Arif Alvi has said that country's exports are increasing and foreign investors are exploring Pakistani markets to start their business ventures.

He said this while speaking to the business community during the 43rd FPCCI Export Awards Ceremony organised by Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FPPCI), held at Governor House here on Friday. "Pakistan has huge opportunities to invest," Dr Alvi said, adding that foreign investors are exploring the Pakistani markets. He said that Pakistan's economy needed to be documented and the government is striving hard to increase tax base.

"We must put break on what had happened in 70 years," he said. President said corrective measures have been adopted to steer the economy on right path. He said that corruption must be uprooted to attract foreign investments in Pakistan.

He said government is trying to make ease of doing business efficient. He advised the young entrepreneurs to use the internet facility for businesses. "Pakistan has great potential in E-Commerce and the young lot should use it for their business ventures," he added.

Vice President Islamic Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (ICCIA) Rifat Hisarciklioglu said that Pakistan has always been a reliable country with tremendous business opportunities. He said ICCIA has been working with Pakistani trade bodies to increase businesses.

Earlier President FPCCI, Engr Daroo Khan Achakzai welcomed the chief guest and business community for being part of the award ceremony. The ceremony was attended by government officials, business community, diplomats and others.
