Opposition leader demands tabling of AG report in Sindh Assembly

Opposition in the Sindh Assembly on Wednesday questioned government's not tabling the Auditor General's report in the house, saying that what is being covered up.

On a point of order, Opposition leader in Sindh Assembly, Firdous Shamim Naqvi of PTI said despite the legislature has received 300-page AG report with rules of procedures and a report on Sindh Building Control Authority, asking the government what are reasons that stop it from tabling them in the legislature. He doubted the government's intention with a cover-up delay.

Earlier, Sindh Health Minister Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho told the house that government has closed down 41 blood banks which were unregistered and failed to meet the requirements. A total 156 blood banks operate in the province, she said while replying to the legislators' queries during questions and answers session of the assembly. She said the government is going to open a regional blood bank in Sukkur with all needed facilities.

Similarly, she said one each such banks are being established in Civil Hospital Larkana and Jacobabad. The regional banks will help ending blood injections; she was of the view, saying that one each being set up in Jamshoro, Nawabshah and Karachi on Nov 27. She said some 15 ventilators out of 30 have completed their lifespan at Ruth Pfao Civil Hospital, which needed to be replaced. "15 ventilators are being repaired while others are being purchased next month," Dr Azra said.

Nand Kumar of GDA drew the minister's attention towards a death of Sunil Kumar from Congo virus in Chahchro - lower Sindh, asking for government's financial bailout for his family. Dr Azra said the government alerts the local concerned hospital to such diseases once their breakout is reported, adding that sprays are necessary to ward off the spread of infectious diseases particularly in cattle farm areas of the province. The house will meet now on Thursday after noon at 2:30pm.
