  • Sarwar claimed that a fake medical report could have been issued to secure Nawaz's bail.
  • The IHC has also clubbed petition against Khan with Firdous Ashiq Awan's contempt of court case.

After Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Imran Khan on Information and Broadcasting (SAPM) Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan was issued a contempt of court notice, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) has issued a notice to Federal Minister for Aviation Ghulam Sarwar.

IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah took up the petition against the aviation minister on Monday. A petition was filed on Saturday against Sarwar for his statement linking the release of Nawaz Sharif with a deal between the government and the Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N).

Awan also appeared before the bench in contempt of court hearing her criticism of IHC’s decision to grant Nawaz bail on medical grounds. During the hearing today, the petitioner's lawyer told the judge that Sarwar had also claimed that a fake medical report could have been issued to secure bail.

At this, IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah asked how could the minister say such a thing when the medical board was formed by the government. Awan replied that the statement may have been Sarwar's personal opinion, adding that she would bring the matter to the PM's notice.

The IHC has also decided to club the petition against Khan with contempt proceedings against Awan. The SAPM said that her case had no relation to that of the federal minister. However, the IHC has sought reply from both Awan and Sarwar  and court adjourned the hearing till Thursday.
