Activities at Karachi and Qasim Ports

The Karachi Port handled 172,060 tonnes of cargo comprising 99,448 tonnes of import cargo and 72,612 tonnes of export cargo including 7,567 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday.

The total import cargos of 99,448 tonnes comprised of 53,724 tonnes of containerised cargo; 22,126 tonnes of bulk cargo and 23,598 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 72,612 tonnes comprised of 50,551 tonnes of containerised cargo; 22,061 tonnes of bulk cargo; and nil tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 7,567 containers comprising of 3,804 containers import and 3,763 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,174 of 20's and 1,258 of 40's loaded while 16 of 20's and 49 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,190 of 20's and 952 of 40's loaded containers while 49 of 20's and 310 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were five ships namely Botany Bay, KMTC Dubai, Berlin Express, Venture Pearl and Liana carrying containers, DAP and mogas respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were two vessels carrying one container and one oil tanker respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 146,588 tonnes comprising 120,159 tonnes of import cargo and 26,429 tonnes of export cargo including 3,133 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The total import cargo of 120,159 tonnes includes 66,000 tonnes of coal; 10,200 tonnes of palm oil; 8,500 tonnes of canola; 681 tonnes of chemical; 1,680 tonnes of general cargo and 33,098 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 26,429 tonnes includes 26,429 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 3,133 containers comprising of 1,742 containers import and 1,391 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

There is one ship namely Maersk Hartford carrying containers expected to sail on Wednesday afternoon.

A total number of seven vessels were occupied berths to load/offload containers, general cargo, coal, canola, chemical and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as five vessels viz. Yasan Satum, SSI Triumph, Ulrriken, Tomson Gas and NCC Sudair carrying coal, chemical, LPG and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were three ships viz. MOL Grandeur, Yasan Satum and Tomson Gas carrying containers, coal and LPG respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal and SSGC LPG Terminal respectively on Wednesday.

There was one ship namely MOL Grandeur carrying containers due to arrive on Wednesday, while two more ships namely Hansa America and Prague Express carrying containers respectively due to arrive on Thursday.
