Pakistani wrestler Inam Butt fulfilled his promise as he grabbed gold medal for the country at the World Beach Games 2019, being held at Doha, Qatar.

The Pakistani wrestler was 2-0 down against Georgia Marsagishvili but turned the table in last 15 seconds, and winning gold for the country.

Butt has beaten wrestlers from Turkey and Portuguese in his earlier encounters before beating Spain’s Garcia Perez 3-0 in the semifinals.

Earlier, in a message to his fans, Inam, who was the only athlete to represent Pakistan in the sports event, said that he would win the medal for the country and dedicate it to his Kashmiri brethren.

Butt grabbed the only gold medal for Pakistan in Commonwealth Games 2018 held in April last year, after he completely outclassed his opponent Melvin Bibo of Nigeria in the final of 86kg weight category. He has previously won the gold at Delhi Commonwealth Games in 2010.

The 2019 World Beach Games, officially known as the ANOC World Beach Games Qatar 2019, is being held in Doha, Qatar. Some 1,240 athletes from 97 nations would be participating in the event in various sports including basketball, football, karate and wrestling.
