Pakistanis holding properties in UAE

Updated 14 Oct, 2019

FBR chairman Shabbar Zaidi's latest tweet seems to have created a considerable controversy. In other words, it has generated a new debate on PTI government's claims in relation to tax to GDP ratio in the country. He has said, "We are pleased to inform that a very productive meeting has been held in Dubai on October 9 and 10 on the matter of exchange of information. Dubai Land Department will instantly provide details of Pakistani owners of Dubai properties. Iqama abuse is also being handled."

But the question is why the UAE rulers have suddenly agreed to cooperate with the Pakistani taxation authorities. What are they going to gain by identifying the Pakistanis holding properties in Dubai and other emirates?
