A model court in Multan sentenced on Friday Qandeel Baloch's brother Mohammad Waseem to life imprisonment.

The court has acquitted other suspects who were nominated in the case. Cleric Mufti Abdul Qavi, Qandeel's other brother Aslam Shaheen, Haq Nawaz, Abdul Basit and Muhammad Zafar Hussain were acquitted, local media reported.

Last month in August, Qandeel's parents had had submitted an affidavit in the court stating that they have pardoned their sons. The parents also asked the court to wrap up the case. However, the court rejected the parent's appeal and stated that it will decide upon their request after recording the testimonies of all the witnesses.

The social media sensation Qandeel was strangled to death by her brother Muhammad Waseem back in 2016. Waseem had later confessed to killing his sister in the name of ‘honor’. Qandeel’s brother Aslam Shaheen was also nominated in the case.
