  • PM says expected 'much more of a response than given by international community on Kashmir'.
  • "Over eight million Kashmiri people been made hostage by Indian forces in IoK for 51 days," PM said.
  • Muslim countries must awaken the international community, PM urges OIC.

Expressing his disappointment with world's reaction on Kashmir crisis, Prime Minister Imran Khan asked how would the world have responded had these Muslim Kashmiris been Christians or Europeans.

The PM was speaking at a dinner in the honor of delegates of Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Contact Group on the sidelines of 74th Session of the UN General Assembly in New York. The event was attended by foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Azerbaijan.

The premier said that it was an important time for the Muslim world because what is happening is Kashmir has never happened before. "Over eight million innocent Kashmiri people have been made hostage by the Indian forces in occupied Kashmir for 51 days," he said in his opening remarks to the OIC delegation.

The premier continued that the only reason the Kashmiris were locked up is because they are Muslims, adding that no Hindu-Kashmiris were locked up and were suffering. He further said that he had expected more than the response the international community has given regarding the Kashmir crisis.

He asked if these eight million people were Europeans or Christians instead of Kashmiris, how would the world have reacted. He further said Muslim countries must awaken the international community about the plight of Kashmiris.

The members of the OIC expressed deep concern at the deteriorating human rights situation in Indian occupied Kashmir and stressed implementation of United Nation Security Council resolutions.
