‘Get Ready for Brexit’: UK govt launches advertising campaign

02 Sep, 2019

Two months before it leaves the European Union (EU), the government has launched its largest ever public information campaign 'Get Ready for Brexit'.

On Sunday, the campaign began with the launch of a website, gov.uk/brexit. The campaign is the biggest public information campaign since World War Two. According to BBC, the campaign could cost as much as £100m. The campaign will have adverts on TV, radio, social media and billboards.

The campaign states that the UK would be leaving the European Union on October 31 and urges the public to visit the new website to check what they needed to do to prepare for a no-deal exit. The campaign specifically targets British citizens who are intending to travel to Europe and businesses which export to the EU.

The campaign also encourages them to visit the government website to answer questions and receive advice on preparing for Brexit. Michael Gove who is in charge of no-deal Brexit contingency planning said that the campaign could help the country 'come together'.
