Court extends Hamza Shehbaz's physical remand till August 10

An accountability bureau extended on Saturday the physical remand of Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N) leader Hamza Shahbaz in the case pertaining to assets beyond known source of income.

The PML-N leader was presented before the court by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) team as his physical remand ended today. During the hearing, NAB requested the court to extend the remand of the PML-N leader for another 15 days. However, NAB's plea was opposed by Shehbaz's lawyer who argued that there was no need for another extension as the bureau has the records and does not need to investigate his client.

The NAB prosecutor was inquired about Shehbaz's remands until now, to which the bureau told the court that the PML-N leader has been on remand for 52 days since his arrest.

The court accepted the bureau's plea and extended the physical remand by seven days. The court has also directed the accountability watchdog to present Shehbaz on August 10, local media reported.
