Pakistan summoned on Wednesday Indian Deputy High Commissioner Gaurav Ahluwalia and lodged its third protest in one month over India's unprovoked ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC).

According to a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), Indian troops have continuously been targeting civilian populated areas with heavy mortars and automatic weapons along the LoC and Working boundary. The statement added that the violations by the Indian forces still continues.

On July 30, 26-year-old Nouman Ahmad was martyred while nine civilians, including women and children, sustained serious injuries in Danna, Dhddnial, Jura, Lipa, Shardda and Shahkot sectors along LoC. "The ceasefire violations by India are a threat to regional peace and security and may lead to a strategic miscalculation," the MOFA statement added.

The FO Spokesperson Mohammad Faisal has urged India to respect the ceasefire, in letter and in spirit. “The Indian side should permit United Nations Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) to play its mandated role as per the United Nation Security Council resolutions,” the statement quoted the spokesperson.
