Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif has filed a case against British newspaper Daily Mail's sister paper The Mail on Sunday for accusing him of embezzling UK funds.

Shehbaz's case will be fought by British law firm Carter-Ruck. The PML-N president has rebutted the allegations and said that if there was any truth in them, then he would have been  arrested and charged. He further said this was a politically motivated campaign against him and his family by the current government of Pakistan.

The PML-N leader also said that he will clear his name of these terrible allegations and will prove his innocence in British courts.

In its article, the international paper accused Shehbaz and his family of embezzling millions of pounds out of £500 million aid lent by the Department for International Developmentfor earthquake victims during his tenure as Punjab chief minister.
