In order to promote usage of electric cars and make the country more carbon-neutral, UK has proposed for electric car charge points to be installed in all future homes.

In a first, lawmakers in the UK drafted a new legislation that would need every future home incorporate a built-in electric car charging point. The plans released by England’s Department for Transport still require public consultation before government votes.

As per CNBC, if the law is put into practice, this will help make electric cars more accessible, furthering UK’s goal to be carbon-neutral by 2050. Also, UK will become the first country in the world to require chargers for all futuristic homes with dedicated parking spaces.

Electric cars will now make artificial, fake noise for safety purposes

Moreover, along with home charging points, the Department of Transport also declared plans to make public charging stations more accessible. This would help driver to no longer subscribe to all the individual firms that offer public chargers.

Transport Secretary Chris Grayling further mentioned that there was ‘an appetite for cleaner, greener transport’. He said, “Home charging provides the most convenient and low-cost option for consumers. You can simply plug your car in to charge overnight as you would a mobile phone.”

Furthermore, as per Metro, the government has taken further steps to ensure that existing houses are electric-vehicle-ready by offering a grant of up to £500 off the costs of installing a charge point at their house.
