Pakistan's Najm down Afghanistan's Wudood at Snow Leopard Fighting Championship

08 Jul, 2019

It was a great turnout in the capital of Afghanistan by numerous fans who came to cheer their athletes. In the main event Pakistani fighter Najm Khan took on Afghanistan's Abdul Wudood Matin, a local favourite who had previously very convincingly defeated Pakistani fighter Shah Nawaz by submission.

This fight had alot of weight going into it especially after the Pak-Afghan tensions after the Cricket World Cup 2019 encounter.

As the fight started, Najm was employing the counter striking strategy trying to catch Abdul Wudood Matin on his way in.

Moments into the fight, as Matin made a single leg entry, Najm Khan landed two hefty blows, followed by some vicious ground and pound to seal the win for Pakistan. The few Pakistani supporters in the crowd were thrilled upon the win and it was a hush of silence to the dismay of Afghan fans.

When asked about his victory Najm Khan responded, " Alhamdulilah for the victory and this would not have been possible without the support of my family, friends, supporters, teammates and everyone who supported me in one way or another.

Its an individual sport but alot of work by numerous people goes in to the preparation. This win is for all the people of Pakistan and Inshallah many more victories are ahead."

This man went out for battle in a foreign land and came out in victory despite being the underdog. Let us come together and support deserving athletes like Najm Khan.
