After several attempts by Pakistan to have talks with India, the neighbour has finally responded that it is ready for peace talks.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar have responded to Prime Minister Imran Khan's letter calling for dialogue. In the letter India has expressed its wish to have smooth ties with all the countries of the region including Pakistan.

The letter states that India is ready to hold talks with Pakistan for the sake of regional peace and prosperity, local media reported. The neighbour has also written that its call for dialogue between Pakistan and India is to specially focus on ways to curb terrorism.

Since he came into governance, PM Khan has made several attempts to bring India to the negotiable table. While felicitating Modi on assuming office for a second term, the PM had emphasised the need to work together on the basis of mutual respect and trust to address challenges faced by both the neighbours.
