MNAs give mixed reaction on Federal Budget 2019-20

Participating in the budget debate, Sher Akbar Khan of PTI said the government had prepared a balanced, growth-oriented and people-friendly budget in the prevailing economic situation.

He said required measures had been taken to completely overcome electricity load-shedding, for welfare of downtrodden segments of the society and creating more job opportunities.

The PTI government, he said, inherited collapsed economy, rampant corruption and mismanagement, for which it was taking remedial measures.

He expressed confidence that the PTI government during its five-year tenure would overcome all the confronted challenges and put the country on sustainable path of progress and prosperity.

Sher Akbar also highlighted problems being faced by people of his constituency (district Buner) and requested the government to provide electricity, gas and education facilities in the area.

He asked for connecting the Buner district with China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) route as the area had 70 percent of the country’s total marble deposits.

He also demanded setting up an economic zone in the district due to minerals and industrial potential there.

Minister for Energy Omar Ayub Khan assured the MNA to resolve problems of the area on priority. Maulana Abdul Akbar Chitrali of Muttahida Majlis e Amal Pakistan (MMAP) appreciated the government for allocating sufficient amount for infrastructure development in Chitral and adjoining areas.

He suggested the government to introduce interest-free system to strengthen the national economy, adding that he had proposed two legislation in this regard, which were pending in different Standing Committees for quite some time.

He said there should be improved educational and health facilities for benefit of the common man, adding practical steps were required to transform the country into a welfare state on a pattern of Madina tul Munawara.

Agha Hassan Baloch of Baloch National Party (BNP) highlighted miseries and sense of deprivation of people of Balochistan, saying that Katchi Kanal project was lingering since long as sufficient allocations had never been made to complete the much-needed project for giving a boost to agriculture sector.

He said Balochistan province should have a vibrant irrigation system as of Punjab and Sindh.

He said there were a number of areas where basic life necessities were missing, which was causing surge in poverty ratio in the province.

He demanded a parliamentary committee to look into the problems being faced by people of Balochistan and remedial measures to end backwardness of the areas. Deputy Speaker Qasim Qasuri appreciated the MNA for becoming voice of the people of Balochistan and highlighting their problems in the Parliament.

Saad Waseem Sheikh of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) criticized the federal government for taking dictation in finalization of the fiscal plan. He recounted achievements of the PML-N during its five-year term from 2013-18, despite inheriting crippling legacy of load-shedding, menace of terrorism and fragile economy.

Malik Niaz Ahmed Jakhar of PTI said  it was unfortunate that the PPP and PML-N governments had borrowed expensive loans during their tenures.

He thanked Prime Minister Imran Khan for nominating Chief Minister from South Punjab.He asked the federal government to construct hospitals in his area.

Munawar Bibi Baloch of PTI termed the federal budget pro-business and pro-poor and said special focus had been given for development of Balochistan province. She also appreciated the deputy speaker for bringing mega development projects in Balochistan province.

She appreciated the Prime Minister Imran Khan for allocating handsome amount in the PSDP for Balochistan.

Prince Muhammad Nawaz Allai of PTI asked the government for construction of hospitals, university and medical college in his area.

He also asked the federal government for approval of 132 kv grid station in Battagaram. Nuzhat Pathan of PTI appreciated the government for devising an effective strategy to steer the country out of economic crunch and ensuing welfare of downtrodden segments of the society. Muhammad Israr Tareen  of Balochsitan Awami Party (BAP) asked the federal government for upgradation of  Harnai grid station.

He appreciated the government for allocating funds for development of backward areas of Balochistan.

Aurangzeb Khan Khichi of PTI also highlighted issues of his constituency NA-156.
