The National Assembly’s Deputy Speaker Qasim Khan Suri adjourned the session on Friday after members of the opposition staged a protest against Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Ali Muhammad Khan’s statements against Pashtun Tahaffuz Movement (PTM) leaders Mohsin Dawar and Ali Wazir.

Speaking on the floor of the Parliament, the minister accused the two MNAs of being anti-Pakistan and anti-army. Khan's further called for their expulsion as members of the Parliament, local media reported. These remarks were strongly met with disapproval from the opposition who protested and surrounded the speaker’s dais.

Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz's Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto were among the other members to strongly register their protest. The opposition also demanded to issue production order of the two PTM MNAs.

The deputy speaker adjourned the session amid the ruckus. Speaking to the media after the session, Bilawal said that the deputy speaker had violated house rules by not letting opposition members speak on sensitive issues. The PPP chairman also said that the NA lied to him and told him that they had not received any letter by him to issue production orders for the PTM leaders.
