Muslims observe Jummatul Widda today

The last Friday of the Holy month of Ramazan, Jumatul Wida, is being observed today with religious zeal and reverence across the country.

A huge number of followers will visit mosques and prayer grounds to offer Friday prayers. Special prayers will be also be offered for the progress and prosperity of Pakistan and the unity of Muslim Ummah.

Ulema and Khatibs will highlight the importance of the day and the holy month of Ramazan in their sermons. The biggest gathering of Jumatul Wida will be held at Faisal Mosque. Special security arrangements have also been made to ensure safety of people offering prayers inside mosques.

Jumatul Wida has a special significance since it is the last Friday of holy month of Ramazan. On this Friday, Youm al-Quds  is also observed by Muslims worldwide. This day is observed to express support and solidarity with oppressed Muslims of Palestine and to oppose Israel’s control of Jerusalem. Rallies are held in support of Palestinians to mark the day.
