29 May, 2019

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Wednesday rejected the pre-arrest bail pleas of two accused absconding since nine years.

A three-member bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa heard the case via videolink.

During the course of proceedings, Chief Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa remarked that this is a case of year 2011 and accused remained absconders till 2019. What more can be unjust in the cases of murder and attempted murder, he added.

He asked that what was the surety that the accused would not become absconders after getting bail.

The counsel for the accused said that both accused became absconders due to fear of the opponents.

The chief justice remarked that the accused had fear from opponents but not from the rule of law. He remarked that Habib Ullah injured Noor Hussain while Allah Baksh killed Sajjad Ali.

The court after hearing arguments dismissed the bail before arrest pleas.
