Shah Mahmood leaves for Kyrgyzstan to attend SCO meeting

Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi departed for Kyrgyzstan on Tuesday for a two-day visit to represent Pakistan in Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) countries in Bishkek.

The two-day SCO Council of Foreign Ministers’ meeting will begin in Bishkek today. The meeting will approve important documents, which will then be adopted by the Council of Heads of States meeting.

During his visit, the foreign minister will hold bilateral meetings with participating foreign ministers and the secretary general of the SCO. Speaking to the media before departing, Qureshi said that he will hold bilateral meetings with three dignitaries, including the foreign ministers of China and Russia, Radio Pakistan reported.

In 2010, the SCO was founded at a summit in Shanghai by the presidents of Russia, China, Kyrgyz Republic, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
