ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) Monday adjourned the hearing till May 22, on a petition challenging the bail of main accused Raja Arshad in Barrister Fahad murder case.

A divisional bench comprising Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhter Kiyani heard the case filed by mother of Barrister Fahad.

During course of proceeding, the accused's counsel objected that the petitioner should have moved to a relevant forum before filing the plea in the IHC.

He said the above petition was not maintainable as Fahad's mother was not a plaintiff in first information report.

However, the petitioner's counsel pleaded that Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) hearing the murder case was not authorized to grant bail to the accused.

He said the accused had already attempted to flee abroad after availing the bail. After seeking cross-arguments from the both sides, the court adjourned the case till May 22.

It may be mentioned here that ATC had granted bail to Raja Arshad on March 30, which had been challenged before the IHC bench.
