NAB requests accountability court to issue arrest warrants against Shehbaz Sharif

Updated 11 May, 2019

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) requested on Saturday an accountability court to issue arrest warrants against Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif.

During the hearing pertaining to Ashiana Housing Scheme and Ramzan Sugar Mills cases, Hamza Shehbaz did not appear before the court due to his illness, local media reported. The lawyer of the Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N) leaders requested the court to excuse his clients from the hearing.

The lawyer also presented medical reports of the PML-N president and informed the court that his client's doctors have advised him to stay on for further treatment.

The NAB prosecutor appealed to the court to issue arrest warrants against Shehbaz as he left the country without seeking the court's prior permission. The NAB prosecutor also requested the court to issue directives for the opposition leader's extradition. The case proceedings have been adjourned by the court till May 25.
