Army lauds LEAs, citizens for Karachi’s jump from 6th to 70th rank in Crime Index list

Appreciating the law enforcement agencies and citizens in bringing back peace in the port city, Director General (DG) Inter-Services Public Relations Major General Asif Ghafoor shared Karachi's ranking on 70th place in the World Crime Index, leaving behind many other major cities.

Karachi has been ranked at 70 with crime index of 57.93 in the crime index list released this year by Numbeo, surpassing India's Noida and New Delhi at 56 and 65 rank, respectively. Noida has a crime index of 60.76 in the world, while India's capital New Delhi ranks at 65 with a crime index of 58.61, according to Crime Index 2019.

The crime index list has 347 countries, which records the crime index as well as the safety index of these countries. Karachi has been ranked at 70, Lahore at 184 and Pakistan’s capital city Islamabad at 245.

DG ISPR took to the official Twitter and wrote, “Karachi at one point in time (2014) was 6th in World Crime Index. Alhamdulillah, today it’s at 70th with many first world cities behind." He gave credit to team of civil administration and security forces, Int, police and Sindh Rangers. He also gave credit to the citizens of Karachi and hoped for more stability in the city.

In the same list, Venezuela's city Caracas has been ranked as the most dangerous city in the world with a crime index of 83.47. Whereas, Abu Dhabi the capital city of United Arab Emirates has been ranked the last with the lowest crime index of 10.21.
