Pakistan reiterated on Saturday its support towards peace in Afghanistan and said that there is no military solution except for negotiated settlement.

Foreign Office Spokesperson Mohammad Faisal took to the official Twitter account and wrote that Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has said that Pakistan believes that peaceful and negotiated settlement is only way forward in Afghanistan.

The FO spokesperson further quoted FM Qureshi and said there is no military solution in Afghanistan and all parties should fully commit to peace process. "We have therefore strongly supported all efforts for peace, with participation of all Afghans,"

Addressing a weekly press briefing earlier on Thursday, Faisal said Pakistan will not be part of the next round of talks between the US and Taliban in Doha in April. The FO spokesperson further said that there will also be an Intra-Afghan dialogue in Doha on  April 14-15 2019, organized by Russia.

"The first such meeting was held in Moscow in February this year. Pakistan has supported the peace talks in the past and will continue playing its facilitating role for durable peace in Afghanistan," Faisal added.
